In 2019, my marriage ended and I bought a small home on my own.  I started thinking about divorce lending since many people – even successful CEOs – may not have been through the home buying or refinance process alone.

Prior to my current position as a divorce lending specialist with MiMutual Mortgage, I had worked in mortgage for almost 10 years – including positions as a reverse mortgage consultant, a home mortgage associate, and a private mortgage banker – with a large national bank.  “Divorce lending” was not really a concept there.  We were advised to wait until a divorce was final and then offer to help.

I know now most divorcing people don’t want to wait.  Or they can’t afford to wait!  The earlier a mediator or attorney involves me, the better.  I set up the loan concurrent to the divorce process so that once the divorce is final, each party can go his or her own way.  No waiting around for months, crossing fingers and hoping a refinance or purchase loan will be approved.  

In addition to mortgage lending, I have experience working in my family business (in the hospitality industry) as an executive.  I have written articles for magazines and authored a regular newspaper column for nearly nine years.

I have spoken to Certified Financial Planners (CFPs), Certified Financial Advisors (CFAs), attorneys and Realtor groups all over Texas – and some information I presented in Spanish, my second language.  In 2022, I earned the CDLP™ designation.  Learn more about it here.
